BBDO/Proximity Worldwide and the 1000 Cranes website
The devastating earthquake and subsequent Pacific tsunami that struck Japan on March 11th, 2011 have left millions of people in need.
BBDO/Proximity has established this site to enable everyone – everywhere – to share their message of hope. By using the ancient Japanese story of one thousand cranes and transforming these messages into virtual origami cranes, we hope to give these messages added meaning and relevance to the people of Japan.
We felt it imperative that those affected know how much the global community cares about the people of Japan.
In addition, as a leading global advertising and marketing communications services company – we have elected to contribute financial aid through the Red Cross to aid in the relief efforts.
The Red Cross has multiple chapters around the world and is a trusted organization in times of disaster when there are lives to be saved and personal safety and security to be guaranteed.
We also hope it will encourage others to create their own message and share with friends, family and coworkers so they'll do the same. Together, our message of empathy and solidarity can provide our Japanese friends with the strength and optimism so greatly needed.
